CIC Québec will host a former Canadian deputy head of mission in Russia, Ferry de Kerckhove alongside former Ambassador Jeremy Kinsman, a CIC Distinguished Fellow, who will examine foreign policy under Vladimir Putin, and Russia’s influence on the former countries of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact. While the sixth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Crimea has been commemorated in recent weeks, the Canadian military mission in Latvia under the purview of NATO was just extended until March 2023, and uncertainty hovers over the relations between the Russian President and Donald J. Trump on the eve of the American presidential election.
The discussion in French will be moderated by Gilles Breton, also a former Canadian diplomat in Russia.
