The two countries’ hoсkey interconnections

While the Canadian London Knights agreed to an OHL Standard Players Agreement with Matvey Guskov, 2018 Russian import pick; the Russian Hockey Federation and KHL club SKA signed a contract with Daniel Bochner, a Canadian founder and head instructor of the Universal Hockey training academy.

According to the official London Nights website, 2001-born Guskov played for CSKA Moskva in the Russian U17 League last season and scored a total of 14 goals for 32 points in his 25 games. Thus, he became the Knights’ first-round selection in the 2018 CHL Import Draft. “Matvey is a highly-skilled centre who will bring fans to their feet with explosive plays and his dynamic ability,” said Rob Simpson, London Knights’ General Manager.

“I am very happy to sign contract [sic] with @londonknightsohl; I am glad to be a part of a Knights [sic],” wrote the Russian player in his Instagram on July 25, 2018.

Meanwhile, Daniel Bochner will work within the Red Machine National Development Program in Russia. As the Canadian hockey instructor stated in his Instagram a day earlier, his “responsibilities would include the overall development of players, improvement of their skating quality and increasing the player’s individual skills and technical level.”
