Russian Biathlon lost a coach
Pavel Lantsov, former coach of the Russian National Biathlon Women’s Team, is appointed as a Canadian National Team Coach, which was publicly announced by Biathlon Canada on July 3, 2018.
According to the Biathlon Canada official website, Lantsov will take up his new duties in Canmore, AB, this month. He is expected to bring his expertise in shooting to the Canadian Senior Team under the guidance of their Head Coach Matthias Ahrens. “It is this knowledge of winning [Olympic, World Cup, World and European Championships medals] that he is excited to share with our athletes,” states the organization.
In his interview to sports.ru, Pavel explained his decision to accept the Canadian offer, calling it a “good opportunity to obtain international experience and to reach professional growth.” His trip to Canada is planned for July 9.
